A Little Too Much Salt…

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.-Matthew 5:13

I was listening to a study on Ephesians and the speaker mentioned this verse. He broke down some statistics of how many people in the U.S. claimed to born again Christians, and narrowed it down to around 25% of people. He then referred to this verse, and said, if you are baking cookies, and the recipe calls for 1 cup of salt, what is the only thing you are going to be able to taste in those cookies? Those are gonna be some salty cookies.

So back to the statistics. If 25% of people in the U.S. are born again Christians, and we are called to be the salt of the earth, shouldn’t that stand out, even though 25% isn’t very much? These are just thoughts for you.

In other things, I want to take this time to recommend that you watch the movie “The Tree of Life.” Directed by Terrence Malick. It is on DVD now, but it hasn’t been out too long, so it should be pretty easy to find. Seriously, watch this movie. Don’t try to understand it while you watch it either. Just watch it. It won’t be a waste of your time.

Keep being salt and light, and daily challenge your fellow brothers and sisters to do the same.
